Olallieberry - U-pick season is now open along the Coast

We went today to Phipps Country Store and Farm for U-pick Olallieberries (they also have strawberries) - the berries are plentiful and ripe for the picking (the season usually lasts till the middle of July. The store also has a little farm and country store with a huge selection of dried beans and spme fresh local produce and picnic tables and other goodies. If you are on the coast - it is a great way to spend some time with the family, especially if you have children - they would enjoy the farm animals (there is even a white peacock) and berry picking and playing with lots of kids who hang out in the picnic area. If you want to go somewhere nice for lunch - Duarte's Tavern right in Pescadero is a beloved local establishment which has been in the area for over 100 years and serves the best Olallieberry pie. Also, if you are in the mood for the hike - Butano State Park is slightly off the beaten path for many and offers nice hiking and picnic area. Come spend a day on the coast and you will not regret it.
